I signed up to my vet's worming programme, which provided wormers throughout the year.
Last year they introduced the option of having a worm count instead, at the same price, so
I signed up for that.

First worm count was OK for both, and have just done the second one.
I have had the results and the horse is OK, but the pony needs worming - but I have to pay for the wormers. I was suprised, because what am I paying for?

I just wondered how much everyone pays for just a worm count from a specialist company.

My yard has worm counts done at the same time through or vet. Because we do the counts at the same time we pay £7.50 per worm count and then pay for the wormer if required.
when my horse was ill last summer I had a worm count done and because it was just me I paid £10.50 for the worm count.

£9.50 - £10 for the worm count depending on how many we do. In the last six years, most of our horses have come back as zero egg count and so have not needed worming except that I always do either Pramox or Panacur eqine guard after the first frost in the Autumn in case there are any incysted red worm or tape worms. But we are now down to just one worm count a year and these are usually clear. Only one horse needed worming this year. We put that down to him staying at another yard for a few days and his competing more than the others.

Thanks, I thought it was about that, in other words if I am having 4 egg counts done a year the vets are charging me double!

As for worms, my two have been on the same programme for years and years, yet the horse is free and the pony has some - it is one of those strange things, which was confirmed by livery YO who also wormed according to vet's recommendation and did worm counts and the ones you thought might have worms didn't, and visa versa.

We are only a small yard of three horses and my friends organises the worm count for the horses. I'm sure we paid £6.50 per horse and had the results very quickly from the company we use.

My yard manager organises the worming and worm counts, we've just had it done, £10, mine came back zero after having a slight reading last time which they said was low anyway, he was wormed after the count and this time came back zero so I'm very pleased the plan is working. We worm routinely and if any counts come back they are given additional wormers, we pay for them all.

After having a pony for 19 years who died when he was 22, he was lucky if he was wormed once a year, die from suspected worm damage I'm very careful now, when we had him in the mid 70's we didn't know and its something I feel very guilty about, I have recurring dreams that he's still alive somewhere, but in the dream I'm telling myself it can't be him he's not alive anymore, its weird, its the guilt playing on my mind I expect, I have strange dreams anyway
