Bit of advice needed here folks... my mare was wormed on Saturday, kept in over night and turned out since from tea time to early morning when she is brought back in for a rest... checked her droppings and all appeared normal.

Since Wednesday she has been passing dead worms, but oldly only in the droppings in her stable. Field has been pop picked daily and no signs of anything in the poo from the field but evidence of worms in her stable poo.

On Wednesday there were approx 5 worms in the poo when I skipped her out, but today there were between 25-30 from just 5 droppings in her stable...

Below is a photo of the little beasts, am I right in thinking these are Pinworms??

Yep roundworms not pinworms too big and fat for pinworms which look like threads only a bit fatter. Dont know how old your horse is but it is more usual to find roundworms in youngsters. Dead ones mean your wormer is working

Thanks guys!! :)

The reason I thought pinworms was after googling (I know, I Know, it's a minefield) all of the results (pics) of pinworms looked the same as the ones my mare has, it said that they can grow upto 6" in length in a adult female worm, the other reason I suspected them is that my mare is really really itching her bottom, to the point of knocking down the post and rail... approx 12 weeks back she itched it so bad that she rubbed all of the skin off her vulva and it was proud flesh.

The only worms I've seen before are very small red ones... and nothing as ugly as these beasts.

My mare is 7 this year :)
