Need advice on what wormer to give my cob after having dectomax injections. Blue was wormed end March with double dose embotape which was recommended for pinworm. He had 2 dectomax injections for mites, last injection was 28 August.Vet said he wouldn't need worming but didn't say when to next worm him and with what. Totally puzzled now.any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Dectomax is not licenced for horses which is why your vet wold have had to administer it to you for mites. It is a doramectin and part of the same family as moxidectin and ivermectin (Equest, Equimax etc). I would consult your vet then do a worm egg count. Priorities for this time of year would be encysted larvae and tapeworm but as your horse has had so many treatments this year for worms I would consult your vet first.

My vet treated one of my horses earlier this year for mites - did a worm count shortly afterwards but he decided not to worm as the injection also acts on the worms... Your vet should know best.
