Wormer choice?

I got my new mare at the end of May. She was wormed with Equimax just before arriving and colicked quite badly (but was riddled with all sorts). Went from looking very poor to rather portly in a matter of weeks. I've just done a worm count on her and her redworm count is 1000, so she needs redoing, but I can't decide which wormer to use. Her field companion is going to be PTS at some point in the next few weeks, at which point Poppy will head off to be broken. I'm hoping to have a wee pony for my daughters when Poppy comes back, which will likely be mid-late October. I'd be tempted by the Panacur 5 day to reduce the risk of colic, but as there'll be a new arrival at a time of year that's ideal for using the Panacur, should I hold off and use something different for now and then worm both animals together pre-winter? Not risking pramox after previous bad reactions, and would be nervous risking Equimax, but I know the colic may well have been down to worm burden.

I've just started back to work this week after maternity leave and I've got complete decision-making fatigue and a brain full of new login codes and policies etc, so if someone could kindly just make this decision for me, (or alternatively do my online modules for work to give me extra brain space), then that would be great!

I would ring your vet or Westgate for advice. She needs worming now with a count that high. I was advised against the P Guard as it can be quite harsh according to one vet. I think an ivermectin based wormer would be a good choice now.

Reactions to wormers are often due to worm burden.

I would do this under vet supervision so you get on top of it. Agree with PF the previous colic was probably due to worm burden. It might be a little early still but I would include a saliva test (if not already done) for tapeworm while you are at it.
