From Hannah's OH!

Just moved our horses home and need to start worming programme. What do you guys use, and any advice on where to start?

what have you used previously and how long ago were they done?? there are a number of options for you but with no background info it's kinda hard to give good advice!!

You would normally use Equest (green) at this time of year, but if you don't know when they were last wormed and with what, then I would use Pramox as it will kill everything (or do a blood test for tapeworm). But I would give a probiotic at the same time to help the gut. Also, if the horses look in poor condition, ribby or bloated, I would take veterinary advice, as you may have to use something like Panacur Guard first to break down the worm burden, then do Pramox 4 weeks later to avoid an impaction.

Neither of the horses are in bad condition and both have been wormed ad hoc when needed in the past, not sure with what, and not in the last 6 months.

Thanks for all the advice! xx

if they were done longer than six months ago than you want to do something milder as pramox and equest are very strong wormers. maybe a normomectin or something similar. if i remember correctly lilym is an SQP and will advice better

With unknown worming history I would use Panacur Equine Guard 5 day wormer then either worm count and/or go with a programme such as Equest, Summer/Winter and Pramox, Spring and Autumn
