I wormed a new horse yesterday with Equimax and this morning his poo was full of dead red worms - yuck!

All horse in my care in the past have been wormed regularily so have never seen worms in poo - dead or alive.

Would it be worth re worming him in the next couple of weeks? I don't think he has been wormed for over a year and was concerned about the amount of dead worms that were visible.

Also could somone confirm that Equimax also covers tapeworm.

Thanks in advance.

Yes it does. I would worm in 8 weeks time but use a different wormer.

I dont want to hog yr thread but as my question is also about worms i thought it may be relevant to keep the thread together. Hope you dont mind.

My two are wormed up to date 4 times a year and worm counted. I have just moved them on to a 4 weeks rested field, which is full of poo from previous occupants, wormed but not regularly, i will poo pick the field tomorrow i ran out of time today. Do you think worms from the poo in field would have died, disappeared in the 4 weeks, or should i be worming my two in the next week once they have eaten the available grass down which would hold the worms if any? Anyone?
