Assuming the horse has tapeworms - how long from giving the wormer til they come out?

Also, nowadays are you supposed to keep horses in after worming?

Thank you

When we gave wormers to 2 ponies last year worms were still being seen in their poos up to 3 days after dosing. If you can contain the wormy poos then all the better really, poo picking quickly helps too. If you do worm dont put them on to a "clean field" straight away afterwards, I personally would leave it for around 5 days to make sure their systems have been "cleaned out" with the wormer, so as to avoid spreading the nasty little things!

It's recommended you leave them on the same pasture for two weeks after worming.
That way the immune worms (and there are always some apparently:confused:) breed with the non immune worms so you don't end up with immune worms breeding with other immune worms like so and so's, on the new pasture.

But as you say, poo picking is key to control more than anything.
