Worming Plans - what do you go by?

Do you follow a worming plan or simply do them with whatever is applicable at those times of year?

We've been following a 3 year worming plan chart given to us by our vet. However, we're nearing the end of it now and I dont really like the plan...
 
I am reassessing my worming programme too. I still don't care for some of the longer term wormers on the market, however there is one which I am planning to use next year. I also run on a 3 year programme, which I devised myself, however because the seasons are at different times to you guys over there, it has been adapted to fit the time-zone I live in.
 
Over the last 2 years I have been following a much reduced worming programme using worm counts which has been a great success. I wanted to reduce as much as possible the chemicals I give my horse.

By poo-picking regulary (we also have a closed herd), doing regular counts which all come back with no eggs seen, I now only worm spring and autumn for bots, tapeworms etc. Regular worming through the summer is not needed. He is healthy with no chemicals, I same some money on worming, vet is happy - what more could I ask for!!

exactly what i do!!!Fields spotless and the less you use the less likelihood of immunity to it!!Hate pumping him full of wormers!!Unfortunately alot of yards think the more you worm the better,they forget about picking the shite up though???

Losing battle!!!Got my own field with 2 others now so i know they are clean!!

worming plans are rubbish in this day and age - i used to follow one too until i actually did some research on the subject. now i use equest pramox twice a year, worm count and poo-pick and he's never once had any worms on a worm count. resistance to worms is a huge problem in this country and we need to stop it getting worse by being sensible with wormer use, worming correctly for weight, poo-picking and worm counting.
