What are yours? The worming survey has got me thinking!

My Yard is responsible for our worming plan - the horses are wormed every six months using a chemical wormer (last one was Equest Pramox Double strength) However I don't think this os often enough and am thinking about worming my boy myself in between (or even just doing it myself completely) My horses live in a paddock together and no horses go out in the paddock so I am pretty sure I could worm them separately? I am also not happy with them having Equest Pramox again after reading about the high risk of colic from this wormer.

However, I admit that I do not know a great detail about when to worm and which products treat which worms and when - can anyone explain in a nutshell/give me a sample worming programme I can follow?

Thanks :)

This is the plan I have used for about 12 years

Winter Encysted redworm
Spring Tapeworm
Autumn Tapeworm

Worm count with Westgates inbetween and worm accordingly ONLY if needed.

Encysted Redworm in winter would be example Equest

Tapeworm single dose example = Equitape or double dose Pyratape or Strongid P.
