I double dosed Strongid-P in November and wormed again 8 weeks later [normal dose] then 8 weeks later with Panacur Guard for encysted red worm. The next time I worm do I really need to do so for tapeworm. We are not in an acidic area nor is there heath or moorland. I dont want to be over doing the worming. I know I could have blood tests done but there seems to be some uncertainty about reliability of results.

Hi

I work for an equestrian retailer and recieve regular training on wormers. I also have two of my own. Personally I have adopted a targeted worming programme using a combination of worm counts and equest pramox (covering tapeworm and encysted red worms - the main two not covered with counts). I am under the understanding the if there is limited cross grazing and you regularly poo pick tapeworm can safetly covered twice a year. Roughly october/ winter time and march/ spring time.
