I got a new (and my 1st) horse recently. His previous owner said he was last wormed in January with Equimax. Obviously I want to keep his worming up to date so I need to worm him now I guess. Any recommendations of what to use? Preferably I want one i can add to his feed. Thanks :)

Hello congratulations on the new horse.
My plan with a new one is always worm count first. Then you know what you are dealing with. The latest new arrival with us had a count of 1200 epg despite looking really fat.

Take advice from the SQP at the lab or at your wormer shop about what to do next. Unfortunately the wormers you put in feeds tend to be the old fashioned and less effective ones.

I put any wormer in feeds, not just the granule ones. The only one my lot turn their noses up at in their feeds is Equest Pramox so I've gone back to using Equest and Equitape which they will eat. Most odd but there you are!

I'd second getting a worm test done. But do remember they don't show encysted worms or tapeworms so make sure you strategically worm for those. We tend to worm for tapeworm in October time.

Congratulations on your new horse as well!
