I have just wormed my horse and i normally leave them in for 2nights but he is rearing and kicking in the stable this is the first time i was wondering if anyone knew if that was ok to leave a horse in after worming for 2nites or can you put them straight back out?

you have to leave them in for 2 nights just because they poo all the worms out if they have any in the stable then at least not doing it out in the field and then u wated ur money because they just going to get them back again .... thats what our yard says anyway

Hi
If you clear your fields - no need to leave in at all, in fact the vet told me that! I egg count rather than worm, so never leave in

Modern anthelmintics are designed to kill intestinal parasites, this negates the need to keep horses inside post worming c.f. older preparations such as nicotine. There is no advantage in keeping your horse in, in-fact keeping him in is likely to make him colic.

I thought most people had realised that these days, there is no need to keep them in. Go on let him out!!
