thanks Spans - we use equest on the yard and as new boy needs worming just thought I should cover everything. Would equimax be better than equest and equitape - it says you can use together and then I'll pramox in autumn?
if not been wormed before i would go for panucar 5 day then leave 4 weeks and do an equitape for tape worms these are quite mild wormers witch you will need if you dont know his history. i would get a poo sample aswell!

Why Equimax rather than Pramox Spaniel? Curious.

Its cheaper!!
Id go for the full spectrum wormer and then worm count and blood test in a few weeks time just to check for reds and then tape as normal in the autumn assuming nothing comes back on the bloods.
It may be cheaper but its not the same. Equest is licensed to treat encysted redworms and Equimax is not (being only ivermectin +tapes dose)
Its never 'too late' to use a particular wormer, you use them as needed. Equest Pramox is good for a new horse, providing it is in good condition and health. I would always do an initial worm count though so you know what you are dealing with.
