I used to worm for tape worm April time as well but have been reliably told that it is now not needed more than once a year. This would be my worming schedule from now on:

November - Moxydectin and Praziquantel (for tapeworm and encysted redworm)
WEC April >200epg worm with Ivermectin or Pyrantel. If not, don't worm
WEC July - as above
November - Moxydectin and Praziquantel

All my horses are in regularly poo picked fields

My plan would be - October/Nov, worm with such as Equimax, Eqvalan Duo which would also cover for tapeworm

Jan/Feb - worm with Equest to cover encysted redworm

April/May - worm with Eraquell, Eqvalan and possible blood test for tapes as the eggs can live on hay so would need to check for them. If there was evidence of tapeworm then would such as Equest Pramox.

WEC through Summer, the main grazing season.

Thats an example of what I did last year and my fields were poo picked too.

Thanks Izzwizz - just realised that forgot to ask for comments on my original post! Lol Interesting to see other peeps worming plans

I egg count through the year and do them once in late Oct/ Nov (after a good frost) with equest paramox which covers encysted worms (the only one licenced to do so I believe) and tapes.

I would use more if counts came back heigh enough to warrant it.

Three wormers a year still seems like a lot to me, if counts come back low and you poo pick.

Polosmum that sounds identical to mine as equestrian paramox is what I use (moxyd and prazq) so that is reassuring and worm count .
Can I ask freq of folks WECs and blood test for tape as I have never blood tested. Is that something I need to do regularly and if yes what frequency and when? Thanks

I egg count every three months - I tick a box and they send me the sample pots when they are due (a useful reminder!) I don't bother with a winter count (as I'm going to worm anyway) - so three times a year

On blood tests - I;ve never done one as you can't test for encysted so I have to worm anyway - I suspect it depends on how much your horses cross graze with strangers at shows etc and where your hay comes from. While I do compete mine he isn't allowed to graze strange ground and we make our own hay so I'd have thought a once a year blood test for him would be sufficient.
