We have had puppy now for just over a week. Will be a fortnight on Tuesday. I was told he'd been regularly wormed, the last time being the weekend before we had him.
Today I was picking up a poo from outside and noticed white wormy things- I'm not sure if they were alive so not obviously moving but I didn't think to check properly.
Do I need to worm again? My partner said it's the worms coming out from his previous worming at the breeder but I'm not convinced this would still be happening 3 weeks later?

You need to worm him yourself, asap.....I would never just take the breeders word that they had been done....

I have some Panacur 10% wormer which says suitable for puppies from and before weaning so will use that. Is weighing myself then myself holding him a good enough way to work out his weight for dosage?

Yes that sounds fine.
I weighed mine in baking scales :D

Did you find out what the breeder used? As others have said unless its the stuff you get from the vets it's no good.
Also, if the bitch wasnt regularly wormed before whelping she could pass worms on.

Read the pack of your panacur carefully though, it had to be given for 3 consecutive days to my pups but can't remember if that's just before they're weaned, so check :)

Best place I found was Animeddirect . Panacur dog wormer was £3.52 last time I bought it and my vet charges £7 plus. Also look at their prices on Frontline, Amazing! Must deflea when deworming.

I already have the Panacur liquid. I had to buy it recently for my tortoise! However a bottle would last literally years and years so it will save wasting it!

You worm tortoises? I'm not being facetious, I had no idea! That is today's learning point for me :)

I only learnt this a few days ago as well, along with how to microchip them - you stick the chip on the underside of the shell with a blob of araldite. :p

Agree, time to Panacur or Drontal again, liquid suspension is 1ml per kg off the top of my head (use kitchen scales if pup is dinky enough) and Panacur is given for three consecutive days, Drontal just once. Repeat after two weeks then monthly until six months.

puppies should be wormed every 2 weeks till 12 weeks then every month till 6 months depending on the wormer used

That's what our vet recommended. She had been wormed by the breeder. We got her at 9 weeks, wormed her after another 2 weeks, now it's every 4 weeks.
