Worms! Possibly pinworm!

Hi, I found what I think was a dead pinworm in my shetlands poo last night.

Now the yard I'm at hands out wormers and expects everyone to administer to their horse(s).

Another horse on the same field as my Shetland had signs of pinworm last year, he's owned by the YO. She put it down to the fact he can lean over the fence to next doors where they poo pick and throw it in the hedge. Our field is poo picked daily but there are 6 on it and I would say it's barely 2 acres. This has never really bothered me as my Shetland obviously can live on fresh air!

The YO thinks that just worming is ok but thinks nothing about field management (it's been fertilised so it's ok right? Ggrrr) they use this field 24/7 365 days as YO's 2 live out all year. (just for info my other horse has different pasture summer and winter).

The Shetland has sweet itch and has trashed her rug (not unusual) but she's ripped mostly the back end of the rug where usually at this time of year she'd itch her head/neck and tbh wouldn't trash a rug so early in the season!?!

I'm sure YO will go and buy Equest again, is this effective to combat pinworm?
She said last night that they should have been wormed a month ago but was waiting for the others to move fields :-/

I had a problem recently with our big mare itching her bum a lot, she is not normally an itchy horse. Pin worms don't show up in faecal egg counts. I had the vet out for my other horse and asked her about it. She said that it could be pinworms and they have had problems recently with pinworms being resistant to wormers. She recommended worming with Strongid-P which seems to have done the trick.
