I bought a couple of foals on friday and brought them home. Today whilst mucing out I noticed round worms in some droppings. The foals were ment to have been wormed before the sale. My vet, I susspect, already thinks I'm paranoid so I dont want to ring and ask so hope someone can help me on here. The worms were dead,or possibly nearly so,one might have moved, what i would like to know is , is this the result of the worming,or is the foal "wormy"? he looks very well with a shiney coat and good condition.

If they wormed just before you got them it would take a while for the worms to come out into the poo if they had a heavy worm burden. If i were you i would wait a few days and monitor their droppings and if you dont see any more after a few days, id do a worm count.
But thats my opinion :)

Sounds like a good idea. I expect that a course of Panacur Guard would be a good idea too, I think I probably will speak to the vet, I dont want to over do it ,so maybe waiting a month or something will be in order. Paranoid horsemummy will be ringing the vet again...................................

Personally i wouldnt risk worming again incase they were just wormed, you dont want to risk colic or them becoming immune. But thats just me. If you are really worried id just talk to the vets as they are the ones in the know :D
If it was me id give it a week and keep monitoring.
I would recommend a worm count anyway, they cost about £8 from the vets and its very interesting!! We had horses in the same field with Neg results and 300+ even though they are on the same worming regime and in the same field. Logic doesnt always prevail :)

Good luck! :)
