Briefly as on iPhone.

Had surgery 20th Jan, returned to swimming on tuesday, had session yesterday.

Today noticed that wound slightly red and weepy at one end so took into vet. Vet said should be fine, have antibiotics.

That was at 10am, now (3pm) she seems to be very hot. I've given her a tablet before dinner because I am hoping it will help. She's laying on sofa looking very sorry.

Can't really ring vet again as wound no worse and she's not in any major distress-but I, of course, am!!!

Thoughts? (apart from shoot the bugger!!??!!)

Xxx

Well it still looks weepy but it's not pouring blood or anything. Shes not messing with it as much as she was earlier which has helped. I do have a thermometer but no idea how to take a temp-do you just push it in, how far etc?

The vet thinks that it's just as the final few stitches are dissolving theyre getting infected but not to worry. If you look closely you can see a few 1 or 2mm lines that are dark red.

Bit of lubricant and gently push in about an inch. Keep hold of the thermometer!! A dogs temp should be101.5f /38.6c. However, if you are worried I'd give your vet another ring. He will be happy to discuss your concerns and put your mind at rest.

Thanks guys will take temperature when my oh gets home.

She seems to be feeling less warm to the touch and is a bit more awake now after an hour nap on the sofa with mummy.

I swear to god I'm never having children.

Dogs are such a worry when they are poorly. The anti biotics won't have had a chance to kick in yet but if her temp. is high I'd give your vet a call in case he thinks she may need IV anti biotics which work much more quickly.

She may just be feeling sorry for herself and in need of extra cuddles.

Thanks guys, in the last half hour her temperature has dropped right down to a more normal temp for her, ears are no longer boiling to touch and she's much more bright in herself - she's up and playing now.

Not sure whether was tablet or just that she needed a quick kip.

Bloody dogs, who'd have them!!

Could have been the tabs. When Boots was sick after his rat bite one of his antibiotics caused that reaction everytime he had it. He was so sick it didn't really bother him and I just gave him some ice cubes to chew to help him cool down
