worried about lami - how long for symptoms to develop?

*m stuck in hospital till tomorrow morning and worried about my cob! Because I have been ill I haven't been able to ride her for a few weeks. She is 4 yrs old never had lami before. My OH has been watering and checking her for me. I restricted her grazing a lot last week and penned her in a poor grass area before she got too fat, however oh informs me that she has escaped onto the big field where there is big lush grass plus with the rain and sun there's going to be lots for her to eat. I can't do anything about it from here now till tomorrow. Am terrified of her getting lami - how soon can it take a grip??

Don't panic. If she has not had lami before and she is only 4 years old then I don't think she will develop it after only 24 hours out on lush grazing. If she has had it before and is compromised by EMS or Cushings (unlikely at her age) then yes, I would be quite worried. But on balance, I think the worst that could happen is a few extra inches round her belly.

Thankyou wagtail - that's reassuring. Will have to get the battery on the fence charged up, that should stop her!
