This is so silly as I'm a vet nurse, because of that I always think the worst! Before everyone says, I'll be getting vet to check her tomorrow.

My 15yr old whippet x, has started regurgitating food. She isn't vomiting, but is bringing up food within 5mins of eating. It's not every mealtime but she's doing it more frequently. I havn't taken her into work because she's happy, bright and she is terrified of the vets. I hate stressing her out and also I guess I'm burying my head in the sand as don't want to hear the news as I think it might be a tumour.

Don't really know why I'm writing this!

ohh try not to worry! it could be a number of things, dont assume the worst! im no expert when it comes to dogs.. but shes old so could her teeth not be as good as they were and perhaps shes not chewing food small enough which is making her bring it back up? or maybe shes just not tollerant to that kind of food anymore?

try keep positive, i hope everything works out for you! x

Have you changed her food at all? Does she eat the food after she's brought it up? Our (young) dog can do this with certain foods - we have been told it's to do with the fat or something. She has always eaten quite quickly but there are certain dog snacks that she with eat and then a few seconds later throw back up - she can't have those dentastix or any treat that is that sort of type. She can't eat things like sausages - she was given some once as a treat when we did some agility at some horse show, she gobbled it down and promptly threw it back up! She would eat what she'd thronw up though and normally it'd stay down on a 2nd attempt!

It could be something very simple so for your own peace of mind get her checked over or at least discuss with the vet the possible causes.

I have a 15yr old lab. I almost had him PTS a fortnight ago but he just kept wagging that blasted tail so I decided against it (hes underweight and I cant get weight on him, hes a bit of a sicky dog anyways but not always).

I went on holiday and he stayed with nan and my mum. Got home he looked brilliant, Im not sure if hes had weight put on but he looks so much better. Found out hes been having tit bits left right and centre and almost whole cooked dinenrs ( he was spoilt!!) and some cake while I was away. Plus normal diet.

Only from this experience maybe see if she will eat some food that you offer him such as cooked dinners etc.
I would not encourage my 9month old and 4yr old but to my 15yr old I dont see it a problem, he only eats out of his bowl not off our plates etx. Hes not been sick since. Hes currently on a mixture of raw (most mornings) Skinners (afternoon, its convenient) and either raw or skinners + left overs etc in the evenings and cake partial to a custard cream.!!Hes doing rather well. He had two pork pies this evening!!!!

How about cooking her some meat and mash or something see if she keeps it down, at her age surely it wont do harm (thats how I see it for Will).
