For a few weeks now when my 4 month old lab gets excited she gags, chokes and coughs for about 10-15 secs and then she's fine again.
I've booked her into the vet tomorrow. Anyone else had any experience?

'My rots have all done something similar when they get their knickers in a twist. It has never bothered them and I have never had it checked. I usually just calm them down a bit...not always easy!! Hope your pup is OK.

Thanks. I need to get it checked just for my own piece of mind tho.

Betsy does this if she gets herself really worked up about her dinner / drinks when shes excited / is generally being a tit.

I think shes just too dim to function properly when something exciting happens.

Oh yes- we had this at about 6 months old, to the point of looking like he was about to vomit. Went to the vets after 2-3 episodes, who diagnosed a ' tracho-bronchial irritation'
*Bit of a pause from me*.
'You mean a sore throat?!'
He still gargles and honks very occasionally after lying asleep upside-down on the sofa for the usual 4-5hrs, but it's not something I'm worried about. I went to the vet just to get anything awful ruled out.
Yes, if you're like me, searching the internet convinces you that your dog has a soft palate deformity and will need extensive surgery! Or it could have been a mild spell of kennel cough, the more likely culprit. Ahem!
