If that's a recent photo, he only looks at most half his age. It's such a heart-wrenching worry to wait for the vet, and what they'll say. I so hope that the vet finds something fixable so that you can get some more precious time with him, but if it's the worst news, it's sort of both a poor comfort that he was so happy, and feeling so well yesterday, when all you want is just a bit more time with him, but at the same time it's still a little comforting that he was so happy yesterday.

Thinking of you, {{{{{Vibes}}}}}, {{{{{Hugs}}}}}, and fingers crossed hoping for a positive update.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts. We are home with anti inflammatories for a few days. Then we will take it from there with an appointment (that we can cancel if needed) on Saturday.

It’s a flare up of arthritis in his back. He has some muscle wastage in his hind legs since his last appointment which was in November so it has been creeping up on us, he’s just so stoic and bouncy that he doesn’t slow down.

He has walked a little bit although very wobbly but can get himself up and down to do his business.

We are so relieved to have him home but obviously have some difficult thinking to do because he’s not going to be a happy dog being an old crock. He’s the sort of dog that lives life at 100 miles an hour and revels in springing about like a puppy. Tough times.

What a good age for a collie, I lost my collie cross 2 weeks before her 15th birthday and although she had been slowing down it was quite a shock when she lost the use of her back legs. Hope you can keep yours a bit longer, I didn’t try medication for mine as she wasn’t as active as yours and was only happy having a 20 min stroll each day so I felt it was time , still not easy though. Good luck

Oh Rio ❤️. I do love him. I will keep everything crossed that the anti-inflammatories do their job and you have much more quality time with your gorgeous boy.
