Worried- Bute causing sweating??

As described in post below my mare is ojn box rest and getting two bute a day.

Just been out to check her and she's sweating up?! She's been in the same rug all day and has been fine. Now the temp has dropped significantly and she's started to sweat??!

Seems fine otherwise, eating, pooing etc but hot. Don't understand it. side effect of the bute?

Suggestions please for worried Mum!
 
I expect there is a possibility of Bute causing sweating, however, I would tend to veer towards either she is too hot now, or in pain

Could anything have upset her, like fireworks nearby or something else which has wound her up? I've never heard of that reaction with bute but its always possible. I would keep an eye on her and if you are worried call the vet to put your mind at rest.
 
Nothing going on around here. She's busy snoozing with her head dangling over her door so not upset at all.

She's only in a lightweight turnout which I've left on as I don't want her getting a chill but not sure whether this is the right thing to do?? Thermatex etc would be warmer than what she's wearing and it's too cold for nakedness
 
My horse sweats up when he is in pain, I have not heard of bute doing this. Is she between bute doses as the pain killer could be wearing off.

I would put her in a cooler rug and phone the vet to be sure. Has she had bute before?
 
One side effect of bute, especially in higher doses is gastric ulcers, if your mare is relatively immobile and on bute she might be uncomfortable in her digestive system, and pain will cause sweating
 
Are you sure she is not simply too warm ?
My boy has recently come off box rest. I couldn't rug him at all. Out of the wind it is not very cold here (near Badminton). He was not on Bute and he didn't box walk.
 
I have replied to your other post wondering if there is any possibility she may have pus in the foot? A similar thing happened with my arthritic horse. If your farrier has been recently perhaps you could get him back to check.
