My horse had a nasty kick back in october 2011.
He had a sequestrum and ligament damage.
Right on his stifle.
Luckily it healed so he avoided surgury to remove the bone fractments.
He had 14 weeks box rest.
Slow progress back into work.
Didnt do too much last year due to another not so bad injury he had and my knee injury.

This winter we havr cracked on. Doing really well.
Until he came into night lame behind.
Swollen and hot right where scar is.

I cold hosed it and aplied ice cool.
Will be on the phone to his vet first thing in the morning.

But what do you think?
Is this a coincidence or has he reinjured it?

Why do people wait til morning to call the vet?

This is not an emergency, or does not sound like one, the OP is best waiting until morning when she can speak to the vet that knows the previous history.

I think you may be unlucky and find something has changed relating to the previous injury, a chat to your vet is the best way forward.

You say you didn't have the fragments removed? :(

They could now be deciding to detach and make an exit. Xrays may be in order to see whats going on, worse case he will need to be opened up to remove all the debris.

Or he could be wanting to give you a heart attack and has just knocked himself in an inappropriate place

No the fragments dissolved and reattatched. So he didn't need surgury.
So yeah Im worried now they have moved or been disterbed.

Hoping he just thinks he deserves time off as he's been working hard lately!

Vet said he doesn't like the sound of it,
He said it sounds like it could well be the old injury.
So he is seeing him first thing in the morning.
Coming before normal hours.
Said keep him in (as I have been)
Poor boy.
I really hope its nothing major.
He's stuck in now waiting.
That's another hard bit.
