tonight out dogs were in the hedge row chasing something up and down through the undergrowth, i dont know what it was so could be anything anyway there was lots of squealing i couldnt get through the hedge so had to run all the way round, nothing appeared out of the hedge so guess they killed what ever it was, now are big dog cut his nose the tinest cut ever but bled loads and a lump in his lip, terrier had nothing, what shall we be looking for? how long until we know if they are going to be poorly?

Rabbit or rat? Squealing makes me think rabbit,but as they were bitten would suggest rat. Put a quick call into your vet to reassure yourself but I would clean off the cuts (sure you have already) and keep an eye for inflammation.

My samoyeds used to chase and catch squirrels, and they used to bite back - lots of blood and squealing (from the whingey dogs!).

Never had any after effects other than a feeling-sorry-for-himself dog.
