We have a pony on our yard that seems to have some black gooey sunstance which has dripped onto his legs - i am thinking it is from his winky. Does anyone know what would cause this and could it be bad?

Thanks x

my old boy used to 'drip' it down his legs - pretty horrid and smelly. I had to pick it because he wouldn't let me willy wash - all rather revolting.

Strangely enough he'd let my 5 yearold neice wash his willy (arm in there up to the elbow) with out batting an eyelid but if I went near him you'd think he was going to kill me. Funny animals.

I have to ask why a 5 year old is washing your horses penis??

And on the subject why do people think you are meant to put your hand (or in some peoples case arm) up there, the penis comes out, you do not go in.........

There are beans in there that need to be cleaned out - however you see people with half their fore-arm up there, and then wonder why the horse is causing such a fuss.

We used to get them out before surgey, while giving the whole thing a scrub - but we had a more lax about that area during surgery - we just let it be!
