Am I being paranoyed? I've had a few responses to adverts for a mare I'm selling. Most are nicely worded etc or transparent (riding school) but a few come through by text that just say . Hi is your mare still for sale. I send a reply to say yes, no response. Then one that asks for more photos by email as very far away (this is a green mare who needs work not a sought after superstar) no name etc. I started getting paranoyed that my house/ stables Etc might be being checked out so I made sure the photos had as little background detail on as possible. Is my mind over worrying?
Sorry to those who have sent messages like this, but others have been more open and friendly on their enquiries and have had lots of questions

I just wouldn't respond personally - if they are that blunt over text, I personally would give them a wide berth.

Unless you've given your address, I don't think the average perdon can trace that from a mobile. But probably wise to keep as little detail as possible in the photo's.

I hope someone lovely buys her soon :)

It depends where the advert is but I find if on the less good, read expensive, sites you do get a lot of these type of replies, most are people who seem to reply to so many they do not even seem to read the ad, often asking things that are in it. I have a pony on Horsemart and have had several similar to you, "is the pony still for sale" reply yes then hear no more from them, wonder why they bother sending it but the next one may be a serious enquiry so do not ignore them.

I am getting all sorts of responses from my ads. I have one family that want to buy my pony, she is a 2nd pony pc allrounder but totally wasted so am not asking a lot. They want me to deliver her some 40 miles away , never having seen her just seen the videos on you tube . They will pay the deisel and cash on delivery they say. i had made a strong point on the advert that home was more important than price . they dont want to accept that I have said no !!!!

Yes I agree on the fact they won't be able to make out where the photos are, I suppose I thought they may check out whether it was worth saying they would come see her and then they would have the address. But I think your reasons are more likely.
The one that made me chuckle was someone who wanted a novice ride and I've put needs bringing back into work, very green! I said no and also mentioned the dealer I bought her off as a bombproof hack so she knows not to use that dealer!! At least that call wasn't wasted I'll tell everyone never to use them! Obviously not on here .....
Desperate to find her the right home. I've had a couple I've chatted to who sound right for her, but they'll be a few for them to see. I'll wait for the right person. Thanks, I'll sleep better now :)

Brigit, think I got your reply on my email before u edited it. No thats not my horse. It's more the quick texts that ask no questions and don't leave a name. Mind u some of them could be checking still available and then send the advert to a friend etc. I'm naturally suspicious lol, hope u find what you're looking for

Think you are being a bit overly suspicious :-)

Some people have no social skills, let alone the ability to convey those skills via text. I went on facebook groups browsing last night and mercy me there are some er, interesting folk around.

Because I am a snob I would rather sell a horse to someone who could converse with me properly... Not to say I judge someone for having trouble with spelling etc, but I do wonder why you'd not phone if you have so much trouble with English that you can't string together a coherent message!
