worth changing insurers?

Atm my boy is insured with petplan - i insured him with them when he was 14 and he is now 17, so he still technically receives full cover (not on their veteran plan). It is quite expensive (over £40 a month) and there are a lot of exclusions on it regarding joints/muscles/lameness (which is basically everything wrong with him!) so I can't have any scans or investigations into his odd movement and lameness. I just feel like Im paying too much for what is essentially insurance for colic and his head falling off

Anyone have any advice?

May be worth querying the exclusions rather than having to change to a new policy?

I pay around £38 a month for up to £5k vet cover with KBIS. Whilst I have not claimed for treatment for colic, I did disclose that he'd received treatment on the annual health check for the renewal and guess what ..... they excluded colic ..... that's what you get for being honest!!

I objected to this given that it's potentially pretty vital cover and they agreed that, if there had been no recurrence of symptoms within the year, they would put the cover back on which they have now done

Sometimes worth querying the exclusions as insurers will sometimes reverse these decisions
