Well this is for my friend... there is a horse at her riding stables it is about 15hh thoroghbred (sp) can sometimes pace but not all the time. Good nature. Does start bucking and napping but it doesn't look like it is nastyness it looks in pain but it is only ridden by her when ever she goes up and looks very stiff after 15minutes of circles and bending the ears go forward and it seems happier. 15yrs old. So the thing is she only wants to hack isn't all that experience but i would give her help when she needs it i have never rated her riding at all and before seeing her on this mare i though there was no way she was ready for a horse but she rode it so well and looked really good and calm they just seem to match obviously i have told her that she should get it vetted before doing anything to make sure there is no real problems but what do you lot think it sounds a bit risky doesn't it and i don't want to give her the wrong advice so would like to know everyones veiw:)

I should think they would be glad to give it to her.It sounds past its best and if she takes it away from there she will probably have all sorts of problems. It doesn't sound like it would pass a vetting anyway.
I hope she is realistic and doesn't spend a small fortune on it, if she is going to keep it there and carry on as she has been she might be ok, but maybe she would be better loaning it, but I'm glad the horse has found a friend

If she really wants it I would urge her to fork out for a 5 stage vetting. It may be something very simple like the saddle doesnt fit but it could be something far worse and she doesnt want to be spending a small fortune on vets bills if it is something worse.

But tbh if you can I would encourage her to steer clear. There are plenty of horse she can choose from with no problems at all.
