16yo TB Mare completely sound and clean limbed, good doer
Excellent breeding lines, has not been bred from in the past. (sorry no idea of lines)

Bit about her past...

Past year has been a field companion as no rider. Has had some light work done with her (30mins in the school here and there) but nothing intensive.

Before this novice rider owned her and got scared, hence sold her on.

Before this believed to have sj to a high level but couldn't cut the really high tracks. (Not sure if she has a record with BSJA)

She is a lovely little mare, nice and compact, quite fiesty so not for a novice but doesn't do anything nasty. Fine to shoe/box/hack/clip. Will live in or out. I would reckon with a bit of bringing on that she would turn into a cracking allrounder for a teenager or adult to compete with. She is really a one person horse though and needs some one to spend most evenings giving her attention and getting her trust.

What do you think? She is not mine by the way, just a friend who is in ill health at the moment and needs to downsize. She is either looking to sell or loan (at present yard or away). Do you think anyone would be interested especially with her age?

We tried a breeder to loan out but he didn't want her due to her age and that she hadn't had a foal.

I am sure you would find someone who wanted her. I bought a similar mare 4 years ago although she turned out to be useless at jumping fillers

she had not been ridden for three years apart from the odd hack. I only paid £450.00 for her though. I was looking again recently for someone but I don't think we are near you.

OK that sounds good

I think if we advertised her as loan with veiw to buy then potential owner can see if she is going to come along nicely or not.

What do you reckon? £1000-£1500?

Nope! Not unless she's back in work, going nicely, AND suitable for the type of rider who might WANT her!

Put it this way, I regularly get offered YOUNG TB mares as 'breeding prospects' for anything from 'free' to £500. A friend has just bought a SUPERB 3 year old unbacked TB filly from Ireland for £450!

IF she's currently quiet to ride, £500 tops! TB mares with no breeding history are a glut on the market and many - some much younger than this one - are going to the meat man!
