Would you my friend seems to think so but I'm not so sure someone would have her pay all her up keep
all work as she is green but have to give back in a yr or so

Some people will take on a loan horse for a fixed one year term, especially teenagers who might be wanting a horse but know that it can only be for a limited time due to uni or whatever. A girl on our yard did this.

When you say all costs, I think it depends a bit what you mean. I think livery feed and shoes people would take on if they had sole "custody" of the horse. If there is ongoing vetinary care or anything specialist you might struggle. I'd also suggest that you keep the insurance in your own name.

No vet treatment part from vaccine but would have to pay from feed shoes hay bedding livery any vet treatment that is needed from any injurys etc

Even tho this horse is 5 and only has been ridden a handful of times so needs he'll of slot of work and needs
Topline etc

isn't that the idea of a loan?

Whether the horse is green or not it is up to the owner to find a loanee capable of looking after the horse. whether the loanee chooses to 'bring the horse on' should be completely up to them.

Yer I suppose , I just thought all that money and time put into a horse that's only going to be there for a year would of put people off but seems not

If you're the kind of person who likes projects/bringing on youngsters you could easily want them just for a short time. Likewise teenagers/soon (but not too soon) to be mums/others who know their circs are likely to change.

If you don't try you'll never know!

I have a lovely horse on loan. Owner is working abroad - should have been a year but now been extended a bit. I pay for everything except his insurance (in case of anything big) - he is 17 and has lots of exclusions on his insurance and this was agreed before hand. I pay for all routine vet stuff though. I love him to bits but I know the owner does too and if / when she comes back I am happy to give him back to her - also quite happy for him to stay with me. :)

Yes of course! I've had Dee for almost 3 years on loan and I pay for everything. I don't really think of her not being mine.

And as the others have said people may want the experience of bringing a horse on for a year and then finding another project.

From a personal point of view, I wouldnt take a youngster on. a) Becasue I dont really have the skills needed to teach a completely green horse and b) because I dont have the facilities, having no menage with winter drawing near, a young horse wouldnt be ideal!
But, I am looking for a horse to loan either long or short term so I'd imagine there is someone out there like me, but who is able to cope with a young green horse.
Advertise and see what happens! :D
