I don't know why but in the last week my horse has been getting bad rubs on his face near the corner of his mouth. I've no idea what's going on as he's never had this problem before and surely my riding hasn't suddenly changed overnight?! Anyway, thinking that the bit rings must be rubbing I dismounted and moved them around on the ground to see if they could have rubbed the affected area. However, they don't seem to be anywhere near them. Any suggestions on what's happening? Do you think I should try putting bit wrap around the rings and on the ends of the bit itself to see if that helps? Am rather at a loss as to what's going on and feel absolutely terrible that my horse has been injured in this way. Could I be suddently doing something riding that's causing this? Help!

maybe putting something like vaseline on the effected area just prior to and post riding might help? thats what my teacher did with her horse who had a similar problem.
Does the bit fit properly (not trying to sound rude, just asking) as if it is a bit tight it might be rubbing/pinching etc
