Would grass reins stop my mare throwing her head down for grass when being ridden?

Someone suggested to me that grass reins would stop my mare from throwing her head down for grass whilst out hacking. I can normally handle this but when power trotting down hills (not my choice - hers!) and then the head goes it can be quite scary sometimes!
She is a very greedy horse and this bad habbit only gets worse when she's out in the field wearing her grazing muzzle. Even a hay net before a hack doesn't help.

A daisy rein would be fine for this.

Many naughty childrens ponies have them to stop them putting their heads down and bringing said child down over the top of their heads!

Yes, that is exactly what they are for and they shouldn't affect your horses normal way of going at all, e.g. if she is walking forward normally they should not be tight. Depending how old/big you both are they might be a good idea for a while. You obviously have a few control issues out hacking though so longer term see if you can get a lesson to help with both the unauthorised snacking and the paces :-)

A daisy rein is much more effective than grass reins which many horses can evade. The daisy rein goes from the pommel, up the line of the crest and fixes to the headpiece between the ears.
