Would it be bad of me to do a pony club d level 1 dressage test with my fully grown horse and me being 19? He only came off the track two months ago and I would like to do a walk and trot test first, but I'm worried people would think it unfair as these tests might be for the little kids on little ponies? The schedule doesn't say anything about the class just being for them, but it doesn't stop me worrying! Do you think its ok or rude? I'm amazed I found a show that does a walk and trot test!!! Do you think I should go HC?
 
If you are worried perhaps enter it HC? That's what I'd do. OK you loose out on the chance of a Rosette but I'm sure you have plenty of those already

Although if the entries are restricted I would think you are perfectly entitled to enter as normal. Perhaps ring the secretary and ask? I am friends with one of the local secretaries and she always said I couldn't go HC as I was entitled to be in the class proper

not at all - im taking my big baby (17'2 dutch warmblood) to do two unaffliated prelims on sunday and no doubt people there wont like it. however we all have to start somewhere and i know he will be a litle git in the warmup!! I also am not expecting to get over 60% however i feel il get judged by other people there on how he looks to them. (if you see what i mean). You have every right to do a walk/trot test just like everyone else.
 
Oh good. He's just a little bit crazy at the moment. Yesterday he was misbehaving so I gave him a boot and he bucked me off into a fence and I've now got a black eye and a pair of broken glasses! Good luck this weekend PG!
 
Caron Myles (been round Badminton) won her RC walk and trot test the other day, so I wouldn't worry about it, know how you feel. Although think what you'll feel like when you get beaten by some little brat on the perfect pony!

No we don't have Reashi any more and we're not really happy with how he went either. Can't really say anything on here as you never know who reads stuff on here, so if anyone wants to know they can PM me.
 
I agree with every one else, age is no barrier in riding, my daughter and her friends are far better at everything than me. My RC do restricted classes for those who havent scored over 60%, these are aimed at both novice horses and novice riders. If in doubt phone the secretary.
 
I wouldnt worry about it. I've been told that Walk is in fact one of the hardest paces to master and to get a good horse with a good walk at a high level is not very likely, so they shouldnt gripe.
I would only do walk/trot tests on my boy as I am still a bit scared of cantering, so actually having to turn in canter might push me over the edge, hehe! Plus he tried to jump the boards!
