I'm not sure that nappies would be very effective, they are more designed with liquids and soft poo in mind.

If you really want a Pampas horse, perhaps a change of diet to liquify the poo a little. Something like constant diet changes or spring grass should do nicely.

Personally I would go for a bag arrangement, fixed under the tail it should catch the poos nicely. Probably only suitable for geldings though, mares would probably fill it with pee.

An added advantage would be clean tails, especially for those of us with white horses.

There used to be a horse who pulled a tourist cart of some sort round Beaumaris in Anglesey who had a piece of sacking stretched between his hind legs and the card for exactly this purpose. I must say it didn't look very nice though....
