To puchase a cow print rug in the Derby House sale for my Fell pony in ready-ness for next winter? Will he look like a numpty? Does cow print justify a £25 rug? And will his friends ever speak to him again? At the age of 25 with a 13.2hh pony to my name already am I just asking for trouble with a cow-print rug?!

I think he might be picking up the phone to WHW as we speak?!! :D :D :D

And on a more sensible note - any recommendations from those of you with chunky horses as to makes of rugs that fit well over beefy shoulders and lots of mane?

Lol! I bought my mare (16.2 ID x TB ginger beasty) one and she looked soooo embarresed when I put it on her AND the other horses spooked at her! Then when it hung over her stable door SHE was spooking at it! Priceless though and well worth the money ;)

Hell no! Here's mine that I brought last year for £25.00, bargin!!! I'm planing on getting them all one each!

If you *need* a new rug, it sounds a good price.

We have a chunky 14.2 NF and we were given a brand new 5ft9 FAL rug by a lady we know whose chunky cob had deceased a few years ago before he ever got to wear it, and she reckoned it'd fit and it fits perfectly as though made to measure.

Hee hee. Well I don't technically need it. Pony has not been rugged over the winter. But he will be next year so my plan is to buy rugs for him cheap in sales over the summer ready for next winter. Slightly concerned this is tempting fate as he'll probably end up injured and wintering out or something!!! But at the moment he has no wardrobe at all so I'm itching to get him something (I think it could be the start of a slippery slope into rug-addiction!).

poor pony will get a complex and think that he is a cow rather than a horse, personally i think they are awful, but everyone has different tastes, weatherbeeta are fab for chunky horses, ive tried masta and rambo and i cant get either to fit :(
