to get a happy mouth bit instead of a metal bit for winter. We have to keep tack at home & take to yard by wheelbarrow. I can't find a way to keep the bit from getting cold when it's freezing - tried wrapping it in newspaper and there is no kettle facility to dip it in hot water to warm it up.

Rub it between your hands or stick in an armpit for a while- not next to the skin, warms it up for the horse. Safes having to buy a new bit.

I warmed my horse's bit up this morning for him, we do have a hot tap so I can do it that way, but otherwise I would do any of the above suggestions. It does seem kinder than just sticking a freezing bit in his mouth, but I'm the only one on the yard that does it.
