Hi, I have a little 13.3 cob ( quite speedy when she wants to be
) who i sometimes take out and compete hunter trails and sj etc. I was planning doing the hunter trials at Sandtoft again next sunday ( 18th ) as i usually do every april and october. Unfortunatly at xmas time our yard got strangles but has recently been cleared of it ( mine stayed in the field until now so never got it) I have completely ruled out doing the cross country but now i know that i could possibly do it, i have an urge to..
Now my little cob is great, she will do anything i ask of her but after not doing hardly anything over winter and having only a week to prepare, i do think that i would be quite selfish and unfair on her to go and do the novice class. My plan was to try and ride her quite a few times before the show. Also only about 8/9jumps are timed at the beginning then i would just have to go clear the rest of the way.
( this is the same pony i left after the last hunter trials for 2 weeks and a spur of the moment decision, went to a sj event and got a double clear and came 4th)
This does not give a good impression of me i know but i do not thrash my horses around, hence why i am posting it on here to see what people would do in my position.
any advice would be great, whether good or bad
