It's called neem oil.
I order my stuff from;
http://www.pureneem.co.uk/
Just like to say I have nothing to do with this company or product, but I am impressed!
Firstly the company, I am guessing it is a small company, emails are always answered quickly and advice given, very helpful. Post is quick too.
I had a problem (started oct 2009) Harmonie started itching her face, rubbing it raw, called vet out, all he said was 'parasites' (could have been a number of things. Anyway it calmed down in the winter, flared up again in spring, then again this september.
I have done sooo much research to see what it could be (only face itching), it was getting me down.
I had some neem oil in the cupboard (ordered previously last year but not used), and thought I would try it (anti fungal parasitic, soothing etc etc). The indians have used it for centuries for loads of things.
I tried it out mixed with shampoo when daughter & 2 friends had nits and were staying at ours, it cleared them up and they've never been back (nits not friends!)
So I tried it out on Harmonie's face once a day, wiped it on neat with a sponge all over. She stopped itching after 3 days, and the hair started growing back after a week!
Have also mixed it with shampoo and washed feathers to get rid of mite stamping feet!
Fab product for not much money. The neat oil does smell a bit though!
I have now ordered 2 bottles (a little goes a long way), plus a face mask and hair oil for me, and face cream, which so far so good is helping with my dry skin (been battling for a few years!)
I had also ordered a 'camrosa' starter pack to try out in case the neem didnt work, but haven't used it yet! (plus it was alot more money!)
You don't often get good service plus fab product so thought I'd share this with you all. You never know it may help someone....

Thanks for that ...I have myself been thinking about Neem for both my horses and myself so Perhaps I will now give it a go !!!

Neem oil is proven to work with scabies and skin infections, if you come in feeling itchy a couple of drops in a bath works like being bathed in antiseptic! Shouldn't be used with open cuts though.

Neem is a fantastic product.

It is a stunning tree too. Big.

A couple of years back I had a conversation with an Indian doctor about Neem - under a Neem tree in Mahabalipuram. he said it was "the village pharmacy" and there were very few things that you cannot use neem for.

I use neem leaf in the summer - fed - as a fly repellant because my ponies are reactive to the sprays.

And last year I fed neem to a pony with a really nasty sinus infection and it cleared in 5 days. Shifted what 2 loads of antibios had failed to shift.

I use Neem as a wash for any skin problems.
