Would thermal imaging be likely to pick up where an abcess is internally?

Just debating about having this done. Basically, horse has suspected internal abcess, and just wondering if thermal imaging is likely to pick up where abouts in her body it is?

Most likely area for its location is the chest.

Thermal imaging will only work if the heat change is fairly near the surface, if its a deep abcess and is not changing the temperature of the body further out the camera will not be able to pick up the change.
