Its a long one sorry!
I have a lovely 16.2 heavy draught mare that I drive but don't ride. She is broken to ride though. I am considering looking for a sharer for her. Would the following appeal to anyone?
Horse is green in her ridden work and can be strong. She is forward going and sensible but I wouldn't say suitable for novice. Walk and trot are lovely paces, canter needs work, but I think she'd do a decent dressage test. I would not be happy with allowing her to jump as horse does have an old stifle injury.
Riding is not great where we are - set riding field or road work. But there is a school 5 mins down the road that can be hired for £5 a time. (from memory) Horse is very good on roads.
It would be ride as often or as little as sharer likes, happy to take to shows etc in my lorry for fuel. If I'm going to show happy for sharer to come too (I often need carriage groom). Sharer would have to be a little flexible with days as I do use this horse to teach people to drive and I do have a few weddings etc booked for horse to do. I can get last minute bookings for carriage lessons or carriage rides.
I wouldn't ask for a formal fee, just contribution to shoeing and feed. And if sharer went competing to pay their own entry and lorry fuel. No mucking out as horse lives out. And our yard is child free.
What do you guys think? Is this the type of thing that would appeal to a potential sharer?
Coffee and cake to those who got this far. Or you can have the dead mouse the cat brought in...
