Would this be an appropriate reason to contact the hunt?

I was after some advice which is 2 fold really.

A friend is desperately seeking her dog who was lost in the area. She has found 1 dog (it was involved in an RTA on the M42 at junction 11 and is now awaiting surgery but is safe and alive). However the other dog that was with her is still missing. They and many friends have been desperately searching the area around where she went missing as well as where their other dog was found for days and have had no luck.
The dog is probably terrified so even if somebody sees it they may not be able to get close enough to read the phone number on her tag. She is very distinctive looking as the breed are rare.

1) Do you think it would be inappropriate for me to contact the hunt and ask if they would mind sending her details out either to a mailing list or sharing it with people they may know in that area? Is this something that is done or has been done before or would it be seen as offensive to ask?

We were thinking that riders and farmers have access to land that many people would never be able to get near and with the amount of snow on the ground she may have headed for a warm barn somewhere?

2) Do you know of any hunts local to the Tamworth/ Nuneaton, Staffs area?

This is a link to Winnie's poster, apologies if it is not appropriate to place it here and admin would prefer if it is removed.

We really would appreciate any help people can offer
Thank you for your kindness

Hi sorry that I am not local but do you have a horsewatch in the area ? Neighbourhpod watch etc . If it was my dog I would contact everybody , hunts people included. there are quite often posters on facebook aswell which might get to some dog walkers in the area. I would contact anyone you can think of, local shops etc, I wish you the best of luck cannot imagine losing one of mine .

Hi, Yeah I've done all the horse riding, equestrian, riding school groups on facebook I could think of (I live the other end of the country so had to guess to find them!).

Thank you for horsewatch suggestion you've also helped me find - countryside watch and a young farmers group all local to the area x

Very sorry to hear that and fingers crossed she is found ASAP. Can only speak for our hunt, but they often circulate details of missing dogs on the email list so go for it. I'd have thought they'd be very pleased to help. Let us know if she gets found!

The Atherstone cover much of the country you mention. Phone Iris Pollard (secretary....number on hunt website) and explain your dilemna. I doubt they will mail anyone - afraid they still use old fashioned snail mail, unlike the Pytchley who have joined the 21st century! ;) However, I'm sure that she would pass the message on to Mike (huntsman) who would keep ears and eyes open and mention in all conversations with farmers and landowners. Can't do any harm.

Good luck.

Thank you everyone for your help I really appreciate it and will get to work on the suggestions and pass on the details to her owners. Unfortunately little Winnie is still missing but there was a sighting of a springer type dog seen from the M42 around the area she went missing yesterday.

Thanks for your help

May I suggest that you contact local radio and local BBC news
Programme ? I lost my dog whilst on holidaybin Cornwall and the local radio and tv broadcast several times asking for information. It was really helpful in spreading the word instantly throughout the nominated area. Fingers crossed you find her.

Both packs I hunt with ask for a donation if you want to email anything round, so I would perhaps offer this if you don't know the hunt and especially if you or your friend are not subscribers :)

As a hunt secretary if asked we would put a round robin text and email out. We are not in that area but hope this ends well for dog and owner.
