Hi all
Ive been offered a Bates saddle. BUT its had the cair replaced with flocking. Is this normal?? Is there a fault with the saddle if that happens??
Its cheap so im a bit suspicious.
Any experiences with Cair leaking? Or is flocking better?
Thank u x

IF I bought a saddle with cair, which I wouldn't unless it was dirt cheap, I'd definitely replace it with wool flocking. I wouldn't say it was odd, the cair I've come across feels rock hard and I wouldn't put it on my horse's back.

Yes I would buy one, or if I bought one with cair I would pay to have it replaced with flock. As previous poster, I wouldn't use a cair saddle :) If it has been done by an approved/registered master saddler then it shouldn't be an issue.

I have a bates gp saddle that was originally cair but is now flocked. My horses previous owner had it changed over as she hated the cair panels. Providing its been altered by a master saddler I don't think its a problem. Although I personally quite like cair
