Would you..? and need some advice :)

Ok, I've been on contact with somebody local who has some horses for loan, but also just needs help with exercising some youngsters.
The thing is, this person and the person she has ponies with don't have a fantastic reputation. They're said to be a bit dodgy and can be unreliable.
My problem is, if I just ride for them, I get to ride whenever I want, not sure about finance issues etc, but I feel this is a good oppourtunity, as I would have the chance to compete at shows etc too.
I'm just concerned that I'll be messed about etc.
I'm going to see the lady next week sometime so will find out more info.

I was just wondering what you would do?
Would you go and just see what the set up and that sort of thing is, or would you let them know you're no longer going?
I'm a bit confused

I'm not entirely sure, but that's what I've heard from other horse contacts I have, who are reliable.
I don't think they're cruel, but nor are they entirely kind.
I'm not sure though, might be able to find out more at a later date.
 
I say go, have a look and make up your own mind about them. you'll know by looking at the horses/ponies if there's a cruelty issue. these kind of "oh they've got a reputation" rumours are a load of boll***s half the time...remember they could stem from the horrible liveries who know better than anyone how to look after horses!!
in my experience, I've been billed as one of these ppl with a "reputation" just cos I worked at a yard where the working ponies did 5 days a week of trekking and lessons. this was "cruel" apparently....despite the fact that they were all very well looked after(loads of hay,food,turnout and plenty breaks) and very fit. I was slated by jealous livery types behind my back for no reason whatsoever.
Don't believe everything you hear....make up your own mind,you could miss out on a fab opportunity!!

I'll give her a text and see what time she feels is good, and then see where things go from there.

I agree with siobhanc. Much better to go and visit and make your own mind up then rely on what could be false info
