I bought wormers yesterday. 2 for each horse so we can double dose for tapeworm. Left them in the tack room. One of the liverys came down this morning and just COULD not wait, did not ask me what to do, gave her horse one and then turned him out. She is so bloody impatient! Normally you do them all together don't you! Rant over
Thanks for reading.

I think the reason why some people keep them in is because when you worm it can cause worms to pass out in there poo thus infecting your grazing. Might be wrong though. I never keep mine in because they are the only two in the fields and i poo pick and worm count anyway.

On big yards its useless keeping them in anyway because if there are others who dont worm chances are your grazing is infected anyway.

I thought you kept them in for 24hrs when you wormed them because the wormer in the poo wrecks the grass? Correct me if I'm wrong :3

[/ QUOTE ] you are right

You don't really have to keep them in any more as wormers these days are far superior to the ones of yesteryear.

If the 2 horses are living together and on the same worming schedule, I personally wouldn't be bothered about one horse being done the day before.

On our yard (bout 12 horses) everything is wormed on the same day and then all kept in for 24 hours before going back out. Paddocks are poo picked regularly

We never keep ours in. What would I do with my horse who is out 24/7? And you can't exactly "infect" grazing with dead worms

And yes, I would be annoyed!!

Absolutely no need to keep them in these days. How annoying, but could you not simply worm the other today also?

I thought you kept them in because of the undetermined effect on the flora and fauna in the field........ but prepared to be shot for being wrong.

I never keep Merlin in as he lives out 24/7 and would throw a wobbler!!!
