Basicly its a field issue at my yard, when i first moved there we where told you get a stable and a field/shared field which you can do as you like with, your horse can live in 24/7, out 24/7 in at night ect.
Because i had one pony i had to share, but it was a huge field loads of grass and 2 other horses so i was pretty happy with the situation.
But this summer problems with the grass & poo picking have really got bad. 2 more horses where introduced to the field and as you can imagian, no grass left!
The owner of the 2 horses believes it is her field and we are just guests! Shes put the owner of one of the horses in charge, which was fine to begin with but then the owner of the 2 horses never ever did her share of the poo picking and tried to blame it on us. But thats not a big isue anymore as shes got her ar*e in gear! Lol
So, my pony lives out 24/7 and the others are in during the day, weve got a massive winter field full of nice grass but only a bit of bad electric fencing to try and stop the horses going through, and before everything kicked off the person in charge of the field sectioned her horse off in the summer grass bit, and opened up some winter grass which was eaten up in about a week with 4 horses on it! Now we have absolutly no grass, and the other horses have turned on mine, shes coming in everyday with kick marks, bites which some are scarring! Not good as i want to show her! And i said to the one in charge off the field this is whats happening can i section her off where you sectioned your horse off, and she said no its too big for one horse! When its under a 5th of the field and theres 5 horses in there! She said i can do a electric pen, but noway will that keep my pony in and i cant afford poles/tape. So shes spat her dummy out and said we cant have that, but she cant give any reason why apart from its too big for one horse, but it wasnt when her horse was in there! So overall my horse is getting beaten up everyday. Not getting enough food ect

No yard manager, and the yard owner lives on site but wont get involved, This is probly because my ponys a pikey pony, cant compare to there arabs & shires, oh yeah forgot to mention shes being kicked by a 16.3hh shire with shoess & shes only 14hh l/w welshie :S

Yes I would be VERY pissed off! some people seem to think they know everything and want to be in control. Well personally I would either move yards and sod em or put up the fencing to ensure your pony does not get damaged any more, if they don't like it then they can fu*king well move the fencing. Also I would tell them that if they don't comply and your pony gets kicked one more time they will be paying the vet bills, if they won't then get threaten them with small claims. Seriously if people work together these things can be avoided but sadly some people are just arseho*es!
I am moving my horses in a month as the fencing in our yard is terrible. While we get enough land you have to do your own fencing so of course you are relying on other people doing their fencing properly. This morning I went out and found someone elses chunky pony with shoes in my feild who has Kicked the Sh*t out of my thoroughbred who now has cuts all over her back legs! not happy at all!
I really sympathise with you.

Move. Life's too short, and vet's fees are too expensive.

Or simply take down the fencing that's dividing the field. How many horses are on how many acres??

I'm in a similar situation, fallen out with a friend over her rubbish everywhere and she's suggested I leave when its not her bloody land to ask me to! Absolutely furious I am.... she must be the only person I know in the world who finds it acceptable for human waste to be left in a field with horses.

You can ask simple polite requests/questions of people and they turn into complete nasties.

Best thing to do is tell the land owner what you are going to do and if they don't say no then to just do it. It's noboy else's business if you've done it by the land owners says so.

As for me, I have the choice of putting up with the childish behaviour or moving to a wonderful yard with excellent facilities and where more of my friends are but paying out four times what I am now a month

Yeah id love to move elsewhere, but most yards are twice the price!

I know how you feel as we have similar situation on our yard - although YO would step in if major probs - we all share fields and have to control our shared fields ourselves. It's fine when things go well but not so great when people don't agree. But, when all is said and done, you pay the same as them and your horse deserves the same level of care. You will need to be firm and state your rights - every livery deserves equal benefits, some are not more equal than others!

yard owner yard manager? who do you pay your livery to? thsats who can sort it. divide field into 5? do a 3/2 turnout? many options open to discussion?

We used to have a yard manager, but she had enough and since we havent had one, we pay livery to the land owner but she lives abroad, the land owners brother i think, lives on the land but he refuses to get involved, Yeah, weve discussed all the possiblitys, we just get shouted down even though weve been there longer than others.
I really want to move yard and i know of perfect yards that arnt more expensive but my mum wont agree to move!

Yep be pissed off, time to move quick if possible or threaten legal action vets bills if your animal gets injured "after you notified her that she was in charge so legally responable person" she wants to be in charge so let her have the hassle that goes with it, particularly if you get hurt fetching yours in due to the current situation.
