I have but I tried it on in a shop first so I knew it fitted me. Personally I wouldnt buy a hat without trying it on first, I cant wear charles owen at all because they dont suit my head shape and some champions fit whilst others dont so for me its not worth it unless you have truied it on before.

A hat should be correctly fitted, it is the most important piece of equipment you will buy. The fit will vary depending on the make and some will not suit your head shape, I cannot wear Charles Owen, they do not suit my head shape and would therefore not fully protect me if I had a fall.
If you already have a suitable hat that fits correctly then a replacement bought online may be ok but otherwise I would get it fitted properly.

I probably would if I had had the chance to try one on in a shop and knew I could get it online for a better price.

also, check out the returns policy because you may get the one that matches your measurement but it may not fit when you get it home and try it on.

I bought a Charles Owen Showjumper hat on Friday. I really wanted a Champion one, but on trying them on they are round but my head is oval and so they didn't fit at all, but the Charles Owen one is a really good fit. Now that's something I would not have been able to tell if I bought online.

was it the j3 charles owen you bought, i would have an oval head, measure 58 cm's. my tack shop doesnt stock them, so thats why trying online. i also just seen them on ebay £59.99, but no return. think i will have to spend a day and travle abit to a decent tack shop that stocks them and try it. thanks

Only if I had tried on that brand in the shop. I didnt mind paying for a good hat and my son had charles owen and it looked comfy however I tried on one and it was quite high up on my obviously strange head(size 7) so I ended up with a cheaper Harry Hall and they have been fine for me. So as long as you try before you buy then yes.

I had done the same thinking they would all be the same and a bit like dress sizes!!different in different retail outfits.

Good luck

It is a pain, locally CO was the best fit for me but kept giving me headaches. I went on a shopping trip to a few bigger tack shops starting in devon and working my way back up trying hats as I went and getting some really useful advice as I went. Discovered that gatehouse fit me best of all the brands so now know to stick with them.

I just bought a Charles Owen Wellington and got tack shop to order a few sizes in, I then tried them all on so they may be able to get some in, mine were ordered on a Monday came on wendesday

I would try on, I have 3 Charles Owens but still checked to make sure
