A mare 8 years old, who has had foals before, to be a novice Show jumper?

Theres a lovely 16.3hh mare just in my budget, but some one ages ago once said to me that once they'd have foals, they'll never be 'ok' again to ride and compete etc

Is this true?!

yes, I definately would, my mare is 11, has had a foal and I have just started showjumping her. my last mare was the same age, had had three foals and was jumping 1.05 courses (not with me, im too much of a wimp) quite happily when she was sold.

Eh? Not heard that one before, what a load of cobblers!

Definitely go and see her if she sounds what you see looking for!

Ah good, i didn't think it'd have anything to do with it! But just wanted to clear it up in my mind :-)
I'll get the old mother to ring up about her tomorrow along with another mare thats taken my fancy

What a load of rubbish, some one telling old wife tale no doubt. Look at all those show jumping mares out there and some of them have had foals before they started jumping

This is pap - my mates horse is thought to be an ex grade a has foaled 4 times and at 18 still jumps every hedge clean and never touches a pole even at 1.25 !!
