Would you continue to hack whilst awaiting the saddle fitter?

My horse had a bad winter - what with the weather and injury. So - following physio advice - I've brought him back into work slowly as his back had lost quite a bit of muscle in his back. After a lot of long reining and pole work he's now back under saddle but his saddle is now a poor fit. The saddle fitter can't get out for three weeks so my question is, do you think it's ok to carry on hacking him in the saddle until the fitter comes? Don't want to lose yet more time in the fitness programme if I can help it. Thanks.

I feel that his shape around his shoulder has changed quite a bit and as such the front of the saddle seems to be lifting a lot - there's much more space between him and the pommel than the usual four fingers width. As such it also seems to be tilting back at the cantle - and I'm wondering if there is a lot of pressure there as a result. Our hacks are mainly in walk although up and down some serious hills, which of course could exaggerate the movement. Just frustrated that it's going to take so long for the fitter to come out.
