So I was having a sort out and found some stuff from feedmark that was about a year out of date and unopened. It got me thinking how silly we get with dates on human food and how I dont care what the label says, as long as it smells good and tastes ok then Ill indulge. But would I do this for my horse? Im still undecided so what do you guys think?

The manufacturer has to label with use by dates, the vitamin and mineral contents will stay as per the label during those dates after the date has expired the vitaamin and mineral content decreases but slowly so will be slightly lower percentages than those listed but they are usualy ok as long as they have not been opened.

Personally I would use them to allow for reduction in values :O)

Then again I am cheap and stand to waste anything.....

The date will be for the life of the vits and mins so if its a year out of date the nutritional value of them will be low to non existent so not much point feeding them as it won't be doing anything!

Thats interesting thanks for your knowledgable input there:) I did almost go to throw them away but Im a bit like you. I got to the muck heap, lid off and about to throw and I could see the forty quid odd that I had spent on the stuff, flying into the air. I quickly popped the lid on and thought Id ask here before I took drastic steps lol!
